Maybe you’ve tried to find help for a growing business or an unbalanced work-family life…and there’s only so much you can learn online. Or, maybe you've spent thousands to travel to another location where you'll get avalanche of information packed into just a few days.
But that's not how most of us learn. Your creativity, business savvy, and personal flourishing need to grow at a sustainable pace. That usually looks like regular accountability, regular training, lots of practice, and actionable steps spread out over time.
Now there's a photography-specific, in-person training course right here where you live, ready to guide you through some of the business's toughest areas. No plane tickets required!
...you’re a newer photographer hoping to make a strong start to your business
...you feel like you should just automatically know all the ins and outs of running a business - everyone else seems to
...you’re burned out and starting to resent your clients
...you don’t want a one-size-fits-all template for creative success
...you struggle to naturally and thoughtfully pose your actual clients (who aren't models)
...you’ve been doing this a while, but you feel like something isn’t working
...you’re not profitable but you’re afraid of raising prices + losing clients
...you brand yourself as a natural light photographer because you don’t really understand how to use light
...you think learning about external or studio lighting is unnecessary + intimidating
...you'd thrive with support from a small, private community where everyone is celebrating your success
Those luxurious details, the gorgeous models, and that dreamy styling - it can be incredibly fun (I've been involved in plenty of styled shoots)! But the creative emphasis on shooting someone else's creative work in a manufactured environment, while it has its place, I think can distract us from the much less sexy work of building a profitable biz that fits into your real life. During The Photographers' Mastermind you'll have time to practice shooting with of regular people (no, not models! let's work with actual life scenarios that you can really use!) I'm not here to embellish your portfolio with my vision - I'd much rather roll up my sleeves and work with you on the real things. What's going to move you towards profitability, sustainability, and wider flourishing - so you can develop your own vision? Let's get our cameras out and we'll work on that together!
I spent my first years in business shooting weddings, families, and seniors...as many of us do! After over 100 weddings and a few years of intensive senior model programs, I was creatively and personally burned out. In 2017 I pivoted from weddings + seniors to business portraits + marketing photos, which is my current focus. I co-founded CommonSpace Studio in 2021 and exited ownership at the end of 2023.
As a single homeschooling mom of three beautiful boys, I've learned a lot about managing a full life, staying creatively inspired, and quietly building a six figure business. When I'm not working on those things, I might be listening to audiobooks, working on old-house projects, watching documentaries, and making travel plans! I launched my mentorship program because I'm energized when I can help others discover insight and ideas that flourish their life and their business. I absolutely love talking all things business and I'm ready to delve into yours!
I’ve made missteps along the way, but I've learned more each year about the crucial elements of a successful creative professional: creative spark, business smarts, and a flourishing personal + family life. I'm here to help you grow, evolve, and upscale your own business on a healthy, sustainable path.

Taxes, web design, accounting, copywriting, invoicing, email lists...business skills are absolutely essential but can be a massive struggle for many creatives. Can you be as good of a businessperson as you are an artist?
This is the true north of your life: your purpose, your search for meaning as a human, your family. How can your creative work energize and benefit your wider flourishing, in your personal and family life...and not detract from it?
It's why you're doing this, right? Creativity can get lost in the tangle of business needs and the demands of parenting and everyday life. How do you stay creative while running a business serving clients, and keeping yourself healthy?
When these three elements of your creative professional career are in alignment, it's magical! It's kind of like the exposure triangle: there's no exact formula to use because the situations change, but each of these areas energizes and balances the others. Your Mastermind training revolves around these three areas of life as a creative professional. Get ready for some deep dives into these questions with The Photographers' Mastermind!
Yes, it's one of the hardest things for photographers to decide on and maintain! Pricing is one of the top keys in building a sustainable business that fits into your life. Get ready to set yourself up for long-term sustainability and confidence in your own pricing.
Learn some highly actionable steps towards marketing yourself and finding clients, co-presented by Nikki along with a local industry professional! This session will be over Zoom so you can connect wherever it works for you. The keys to marketing our businesses are within reach - let’s level you up!
This is one of the most important and personal sessions, which will help you develop the grace to hold the various elements of your life in balance: building a business while staying tethered to your creative spirit, and also nurturing your family / your own personal growth. You'll have a safe space to share your struggles, and come away with insight and solutions that will further your sustainable business and family rhythms.
A communications course for photographers - the class I wish I'd had when I started out! This will cover professionalism, clarity, expectations, and brevity. And then we'll apply it to your email writing, web content, social media, and more!
This workshop will skim the basics and then dig into some deeper nuances of posing, body language, lens selection, and client interaction during shoots. We'll be working with curvy and straight-size “regular people” (and not professional models) because that's how we actually shoot. Come ready to learn, practice, and get real time feedback!
This in-person workshop will cover the essentials and some more technical details of both natural light and studio lighting (or will focus on what the students prefer to learn about). You'll learn some essential principles and important ways to use light, both with existing natural light and on- and off-camera studio lights. You'll have time to practice and get feedback too!
